Hi-Fi Kickstarter

I'm very pleased to announce that I have a 6-page Horror story that will be appearing in this book, so please help! It's a story that I wrote, and will do ALL of the art on (pencil, ink and COLOR). It's been a long time since I've been given the opportunity to draw for a comic project and this marks the FIRST one that is completely my own. So, it's a very special project to me and I would deeply appreciate your support. I may never get a chance like this again. I mean, when does one get an opportunity to write and draw what they want and have it seen by a large audience? This is beyond awesome...maybe even beyond plaid... You can pledge as little as $1, but $35 will get you a copy of the book and your name on the acknowledgments page. As an added BONUS, if I personally know you and you pledge $35 I'll do a sketch for you as a token of thanks! No fancy business strangers. Remember, I know who I know. So what are you waiting for, pledge until your fingers bleed a

I'll be at table #25 for the Grand Rapids Toy and Comic Expo, December, 1st 9am-3pm. Come say hi!

M'wah!

Needed a creative recharge today, so I took a quick break from work to do a color doodle. Just think, EVERY time that you close your eyes at night,  this  guy is hovering over you! Or at least hiding in the closet.

Halloween!

Happy Halloween everybody. Don't let the Candy Demon rot your brain and teeth tonight!

Peek-A-Boo Eye Lights

I've been reading through a bunch of art blogs lately and putting things to practice that i'm learning. Sam Nielson's  blog has been great. Those Avalanche guys alwasys give me inspiration. Time for some lunch and back to work!

Scary Naked Murderer Carrying Keys

Yesterdays randomly generated character. It's been a great way to dust the cobwebs. Feeling pretty good about the process. Now I just need to hop to color to see how the rest will pan out...

Messin' Round 10-3-12

Image
An idea loosely following a random idea generator. It was: A scrawny, charming, guide who may or may not be an Elf. Playing in Painter XI. Oh, Painter. I love your brushes, but holy nuts I hate your buggy UI and slow speed. I hope to bring this to more of a finish someday, but for tonight I have to put it down.

Messin' Round and Hi-Fi Painting Stuff

Image
I was wandering  the isles at Meijer this morning and saw the Spider-man Story-Book Collection and a book called 5-Minute Marvel Stories. Both which have paintings I did for Hi-Fi. I hadn't seen them since I worked on them and I honestly forget what's out and what isn't. Anyhoo, some personal Spidey for fun and a FEW images that I worked on in the books mentioned above. Hope you enjoy!

Messing with some different brushes to break out of my comfort zone. About 1 hr. CS6.

Berith update 8-21-12

Image
Another quick update before beddy bye time. I's gots some Firestorm #0 to get cracking on, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have tomorrow. I'll be sure to get a little done before the day is out though. I decided to flip the image to give myself some fresh eyes. I'm sure I'll do it more as I go along, BUT I think I like the way things sit better this way. After asking my wife to take a look at it she pointed some things out. I didn't want to hear them this early in the process, but it does help...sometimes. Two things hit me after the cloud of anger lifted: a). The horse was too small, and b). The cropping was bugging me. Andrea made the suggestion to zoom in more and make it more about Berith. I disliked something about the cropping, but felt that things got too cramped for the horse zoomed in. Although not the focus, the horse isn't something I want squished so I zoomed out a little and re-positioned things. I'm still not happy about the horse

Taking a quick break from coloring some Green Lantern Annual. More noodling, but I liked where it was headed. No ref used, just noodling.
